I thoroughly enjoyed this film!!! Jordin Sparks carried her own in the movie and when she sings "One Wing" is her ultimate shining moment in "Sparkle". Mike Epps as "Satin" is the best role of his career and kudos to the casting agent for giving him a chance w/ this role. I pray he receives a Oscar nomination.Carmen Ejogo as "Sister" was mesmerizing,radiant&stunning..A STAR IS BORN!!!! she also deserves a Oscar nomination..she was brilliant.Whitney Houston this woman can do no wrong.what an amazing woman!!.I LOVED her in this film,she played the role with such incredible poise & control..she was excellent!!! her scene singing "His Eyes Are On The Sparrow" was a tearjerker for sure everyone in the audience was crying and cheering at the same time.truly my favorite scene in the film!!!! I give this movie a solid A

Jordan Sparks had a real shot at stardom. She is tall, beautiful and talented. Unfortunately, instead of following her father's direction, she chose to chase that no talent slob, Jason Derulo. This movie should not have been made. Poor writing. It took a purely sweet coming of age story and made it taudry. Sister was a beautiful young woman who had no idea how she could turn men on their heads. In this remake, she is overtly sexual to sell her singing group! WHY? When the original Sparkle was released, I was a teenager. This movie was so uplifting. It showed the truth about a little fame on the poor. Drug addiction, loan sharks, alcoholism. In the end, Sparkle and Stick make it because they believed in one another. Please stop ruining our past! Trash this version. Just stick to the original Sparkle and you'll be fine.

Musicals aren't my style but the music in this show was so enjoyable by all the performers and Jordan Sparks singing of one wing couldn't have been any better. I thought casting Whitney was poetic. Hats off to all involved...and a big hurrah to the production of the musical numbers. I can't believe anyone panned this effort.
